Personality

Mini Hippos are known for being gentle, affectionate, and easygoing. They love spending time with their families and thrive on companionship. With a mix of the Cocker Spaniel’s friendliness and the Shar-Pei’s calm loyalty, they often develop into sweet, well-mannered pets. Their temperament is typically described as loving, patient, curious, and sometimes a bit stubborn. Appearance

Mini Hippos are instantly recognizable by their rounded muzzle, expressive eyes, and soft wrinkles. Their coats vary based on genetics and may be short, medium, or plush, often seen in colors like cream, brown, black, gray, or mixed patterns. With a sturdy build and a cuddly appearance, they look both unique and adorable. Regular brushing helps manage shedding and keeps their coat healthy and smooth. Their wrinkles may also need gentle cleaning to prevent irritation.

Care

Feeding your Mini Hippo a high-quality diet suited to their age, size, and activity level is essential for their health. Puppies should eat smaller, frequent meals throughout the day, while adults typically do well with two balanced meals. Mini Hippos require moderate daily activity—walks, playtime, or light exercise help keep them fit. Grooming needs depend on coat type but usually include brushing, wrinkle cleaning, nail trimming, ear care, and dental hygiene. Their calm temperament also makes them easy to train when approached with positive reinforcement.
